Being homeschooled as a child, I had the privilege of having an education customized to suit my needs, but this isn't true for students in Taiwan, being subject to 8 hours in school, with 70% going to cram schools, increasing the time spent in an educational institution to 14 hours a day at max.
A lot of students get their passions and motivations to learn drowned out by the long study hours and Taiwan's "cramming education" and exam centered culture, it's the same case for rural children, and what's worse is that they don't have as many resources and opportunity as urban students to pursue interests or partake in extracurriculars, therefore, my volunteer team would raise money and host at least 2 camps every summer for rural schools and their students.
The Soft Skills Union Youth Volunteer team has come to our school to host summer camps many times, it has touched our school faculty and members of the community that a group of high schoolers would have the initiative to serve and give back to the community, this is a team of extremely independent and experienced teenagers, and they would be great assets to any employer in the years to come.
